There is a saying in cricket that a good fielder and wicketkeeper can earn a wicket on their own. While the bowlers pile the pressure and force the batsmen in making mistakes, the wicketkeepers and fielders' sharp thinking can sometimes prove to be the game changer.

In the third ODI between India and Australia in Ranchi, the sublime fielding effort of Ravindra Jadeja and exquisite technique of MS Dhoni helped India take the prized wicket of Glenn Maxwell.

The Aussies, batting first, were looking on song and set for a big score as they made a stunning start. After 41.5 overs, they were 258 for 2 with Glenn Maxwell looking in sublime touch. But in the final ball of the 42nd over, Jadeja and Dhoni combined to earn a wicket for their side.

Shaun Marsh hit Kuldeep Yadav's ball on the off-side and set off for a single. Jadeja, standing at the short cover, brilliantly managed to stop the ball from going past him and instantly threw a bullet throw to the wicketkeeper.

Maxwell was far away from the crease when the ball reached Dhoni at the striker's end. But Mahi, who was standing in front of the stumps, realized that the Australian batsman could very well make the crease if he collects and then removes the bails. Hence, Dhoni dediced to cheekily flick the ball, and it worked charms as Maxwell was caught short.

The visitors, trailing the series 2-0 and needing a win to stay in it, made a perfect start as skipper Aaraon Finch and his opening partner Usman Khawaja looked in fine nick. The two batted beautifully and put up 193 for the first wicket before Finch was dismissed just 7 short of a well deserved century.

Maxwell came in at No.3, and right from the off, began his onslaught. He formed a quick 46-run stand with Khawaja, who during the partnership reached his maiden ton. Though, soon after going past 100, Khawaja was dismissed.

A couple of overs later, Maxwell was dismissed by the beautiful combination of Jadeja and Dhoni which sparked a fall.
