It has become a very common sight these days for fans to invade the pitch and get a glimpse of their favorite sports person. Earlier, Virat Kohli had faced a similar situation when a fan had breached the security personnel to grab a selfie with the Indian skipper.
In another case of pitch-invading, another spectator has joined the bandwagon with Rohit Sharma being at the receiving end this time. The Hitman, as he his fondly referred, had faced a similar situation like Kohli, where he was barged at by a spectator during the course of the match.
This incident took place during the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarterfinal match between Mumbai and Bihar. Rohit Sharma had opened the batting for Mumbai, who had to chase the paltry target of 70-runs set by Bihar.
During the course of his innings, a fan suddenly popped out of the blue and touched Rohit Sharma's feet. However, the right-handed batsman looked least pleased by the gesture as the fan even tried to plant a kiss on him. Here's the video of the incident:
This incident has further raised concerns over the security of players after Virat Kohli too had to face a similar incident during Day one of the second Test against West Indies. The Indian skipper was fielding at mid-wicket, when a man jumped the barricade and sprinted towards Virat Kohli, before taking out his phone and trying to capture a selfie with the Indian run-machine.
After witnessing the chaos happening in the middle of the field, the security intervened and hauled the fan off the field. If reports are to be believed, a case has been filed against the fan belonging to the Kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh for allegedly breaching security cordon at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. Police inspector P Venkateswarlu said a case of trespassing was slapped against 19-year-old Mohammad Khan, who flouted the security rules to get up close with Virat Kohli.
Though, this is not the first time Virat Kohli has been swamped by fans during the course of a match. A similar incident had happened during the first Test in Rajkot, where two fans had surrounded Kohli as they wanted to take a selfie with him.
