The Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur was witness to a sensational match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals on Friday, with the away side eventually emerging victorious but not before some incredible drama on multiple fronts, including CSK Captain MS Dhoni being hit on the head by a fiery bouncer.

The Rajasthan Royals has set CSK a 151-run target, with nobody, in particular, managing to rack up a big total. In response, the Chennai Super Kings also got off to a torrid start, with four of their first five batsmen managing just 12 runs put together. Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni steadied the innings, however, with each scoring a half-century in a key partnership.

Rayudu was dismissed by being caught off a Ben Stokes ball leaving Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja at the crease. It was at this point, as Dhoni faced Jofra Archer, that the scary incident took place. Archer's short ball sprung off the Jaipur track catching Dhoni by surprise. The CSK captain swung his bat but missed completely, with the ball connecting with the side of his helmet directly. The speed of the ball was measured at 143 kmph.

Surprisingly, despite the ferocity of the ball, Dhoni didn't appear to be hurt. He merely asked the umpire whether it was the one bouncer of the over. He then had a casual chat with Jadeja who appeared to be inquiring about his captain's condition. However, a little later, Dhoni did seem to feel something - he visibly tired between balls and even took a lengthy break at one point to catch his breath. He was clean-bowled shortly after in the very final over.

Luckily for Dhoni, the drama didn't end there. He was back on the field to protest against an umpire's call and then, in the very last ball of the match, CSK's Santner hit Rajasthan's Ben Stokes for a massive six sealing the win for the Chennai side who have now emerged victorious in six out of seven IPL matches this season and are atop the table.
