Former Australian cricketer Steve Smith maybe away from the International circuit from quite sometime now, but, however, he seems to have not lost his touch as he was spotted in the nets helping the Australian pace bowlers with their preparations for the upcoming Test series.
The hosts will be without the services of Steven Smith and David Warner, both serving their respective one-year ban for their role in ball tampering saga. Their absence has proved costly for the national team, who have suffered humiliating defeats in the past few months.
In the video shared by cricket.com.au, Smith was seen coming up against Australian quicks Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins during an intense training session at the SCG nets.
The trio could be seen putting their former skipper through his paces by bowling a variety of deliveries to the suspended batsman who now plies his trade with Australian domestic side Sutherland District Cricket Club.
Steve Smith's unorthodox style of play was as on display as he could be seen playing an array of shots through the bowling of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. However, there was one point where Smith was completely floored by a Hazlewood bouncer.
Apart from participating in the net sessions with the Australian team amidst their ongoing series against India. the ex-World No.1 Test batsman was earlier seen dishing out some much-needed advice to head coach Justin Langer.
In a video released by 7 News Sydney, Smith could be seen having an intense talk with Australian head coach Justin Langer while having food. The possibility of him providing some advice to Langer is quite real following the recent comments by Mitchell Starc. The Aussie fast-bowler, following his side's defeat to India in the final T20I, told Sydney Morning Herald that his ex-skipper will hit the nets along with the team.
