The contest between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore was an edge of the seat thriller as the outcome could only be decided in the final ball of the game. Nonetheless, it was a breath-taking final over which kept all the Cricket enthusiasts glued to their seats. In the final over, CSK needed a nearly impossible 26 runs but they had one of the best finishers in World Cricket MS Dhoni out in the middle.

RCB skipper Virat Kohli gave the responsibility to Umesh Yadav to get the job done. Yadav bowled a slower one as Dhoni hit him on the leg side for a boundary. The Nagpur speedster then bowled a slower delivery and Dhoni dispatched it into the stands. Such was the tremendous impact of his shot that the ball nearly went out of the park. The ball ended up landing on the roof and it was confirmed as a 111-meter six. In the next delivery, Dhoni cleared the long on fence for yet another maximum. The 31-year old was clobbered for another six on the fifth ball which caused a panic in the RCB camp. However, Yadav had the last laugh as Dhoni missed the final delivery and decided to take a run in order to tie the game but Parthiv Patel showed a good presence of mind behind the stumps and ran out Shardul Thakur as RCB snatched victory from the jaws of defeat by 1 run.

The video of this thrilling final over was posted on Twitter.

MS Dhoni played an unbelievable knock after CSK were in a precarious situation at 28/4. The CSK skipper added 55 runs for the fifth wicket with Ambati Rayudu. Dhoni registered his highest score in IPL. He scored a magnificent 48-ball 84 at a strike rate of 175.00 and including seven sixes.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. It was not the start that Royal Challengers Bangalore wanted as they lost their captain Virat Kohli early. Kohli who had scored a match-winning ton in the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders was dismissed for nine in the third over after he was caught behind by his opposite number MS Dhoni off Deepak Chahar. Parthiv Patel then added 47 runs with AB de Villiers. Veteran wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel once again played a vital knock for RCB. The southpaw played a spectacular cameo of a 37-ball 53 at a strike rate of 143.24 which included two boundaries and four maximums.

His cameo helped RCB get to a respectable total of 161/7 in their 20 overs.
