The IPL cannot be completed without the Caribbean flavour as the West Indian players have been keeping the fans on their feet with their entertaining tactics both on and off the field. This time it was neither Chris Gayle nor Dwayne Bravo who stole the spotlight. It was KKR's hard-hitting batsman Andre Russell who made his presence felt.

The West Indian all-rounder was seen in some serious practice mode as he wasĀ rolling his arm over and indulge in some bowling practice in the corridors of the team hotel. Russell's team Kolkata Knight Riders took to Twitter and shared a video of the big man practicing.

Ā

Russell was KKR's hero on Sunday as he helped his side clinch a victory from the jaws of defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens. He scored a blistering 19-ball 49 at a strike rate of 257.89 which included four fours and four sixes. Before Russell's pyrotechnics, it was an 80-run stand between Nitish Rana (68) and Robin Uthappa (35) that kept the Knight Riders in the chase of 182. Russell walked in when KKR looked in all sorts of trouble after the back-to-backĀ dismissals of Robin Uthappa and skipper Dinesh Karthik. When Kolkata lost well-set Nitish Rana at the score of 118, the hosts still had to get 65 runs from 27 deliveries. That is when Andre Russell accelerated and took the Hyderabad bowlers to the all parts of Eden Gardens. As he swung his bat and the ball went up in the air but landed in the stands as such was his power-hitting. He stitched in a 65 run stand for the fifth wicket alongwith young Shubman Gill (18) which helped KKR achieve the target in the penultimate over with just two balls to spare.Ā

Kolkata Knight Riders will be hosting Kings XI Punjab at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
