Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by nine wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. As a result of this loss, KKR's IPL campaign came to an end. The two-time winners had to win their final league game against MI for securing a playoff spot. However, some poor batting performances ensured that they could only get to 133/7 in their 20 overs which the hosts managed to chase it down without breaking a sweat. By the virtue of Mumbai's win, Sunrisers Hyderabad became the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs.
After the Dinesh Karthik led team were knocked out from the tournament, KKR's star batsman Andre Russell came forward to thank the KKR fans for their endless support.
"To all the KKR fans, just want to say a big Thank You for all the support. You guys make me stronger, you guys really push us to endless routes and I just want to say thanks for all the support. It's been a long journey. These last 14 games have been amazing and next year is another year and it will be another opportunity for us to retain the title."
At the same time, the West Indian all-rounder also said that it will be another year where each and every player will have another opportunity to better their performances. The Caribbean power-hitter then signed off by saying "Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo"

Andre Russell had a dream IPL this season. He scored 510 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 204.81 including four half-centuries. He also contributed with the ball by taking 11 wickets.
