CSK skipper MS Dhoni looked in splendid touch against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday. He will not wish to remember this knock as he could not take his team over the line. Nonetheless, it was a memorable knock for the CSK skipper as an individual. In this contest, Dhoni registered his highest individual IPL score and he also hit the biggest six of this season.

The incident happened in the penultimate over of the match where CSK needed 26 runs for victory and Umesh Yadav was bowling that over. In the second delivery, Yadav bowled a slower delivery and Dhoni dispatched it into the stands. Such was the tremendous impact of his shot that the ball nearly went out of the park. The ball ended up landing on the roof and it was confirmed as a 111-meter six.

MS Dhoni played an unbelievable knock after CSK were in a precarious situation at 28/4. The CSK skipper added 55 runs for the fifth wicket with Ambati Rayadu. The defending champions had to score 26 runs from the final over. Dhoni who had anchored the innings took the responsibility of adding the finishing touches. He played the anchor's role to near perfection as he hit Umesh Yadav for 24 runs. Unfortunately, he missed the final delivery and decided to take a run in order to tie the game but Parthiv Patel showed a good presence of mind behind the stumps and ran out Shardul Thakur as RCB snatched victory from the jaws of defeat by 1 run. Dhoni registered his highest score in IPL. He scored a magnificent 48-ball 84 at a strike rate of 175.00 and including seven sixes.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. It was not the start that Royal Challengers Bangalore wanted as they lost their captain Virat Kohli early. Kohli who had scored a match-winning ton in the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders was dismissed for nine in the third over after he was caught behind by his opposite number MS Dhoni off Deepak Chahar. Parthiv Patel then added 47 runs with AB de Villiers. Veteran wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel once again played a vital knock for RCB. The southpaw played a spectacular cameo of a 37-ball 53 at a strike rate of 143.24 which included two boundaries and four maximums.

His cameo helped RCB get to a respectable total of 161/7 in their 20 overs.
