India are well on top in the ongoing third Test against Australia in Melbourne, and look set to take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the four-Test series. Backed by some brilliant batting and outstanding bowling, the No.1 ranked team have blown the hosts away.
The Day Three of the ongoing match was filled with action and drama. A total of 15 wickets were lost as Aussies were bowled out for a mere 151, which was followed by India finishing up at 54 for 5, with a total lead of 346.
But the highlight moment of the day was the hilarious banter between Australian skipper Rishabh Pant and India's wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. Having seen his side make a small comeback, Paine took the opportunity to sledge the youngster, who was batting up against Nathan Lyon.
In reference to the inclusion of MS Dhoni in India's ODI squad, which saw Pant being dropped, Paine took the opportunity to have a go at the batsman.
"Tell you what big MS is back in the one day squad. Should get this bloke down to Hurricanes. They need a batter. Fancy that extend your Aussie holiday, beautiful town Hobart too... get him a water front apartment," he said before adding, "Have him over for dinner. Do you babysit? I can take my wife to the movies while you watch the kids."
Earlier in the series, Paine was involved in a similar banter with Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Though, that time around, things got heated up as the two players came face to face, prompting the umpires to intervene. Here's the conversation which panned out during the second Test between the two skippers:
Kohli to Paine: "I'm not saying a word to you, why are you getting riled up?"
Paine to Kohli: "I'm fine. You're the one that lost it yesterday, why are you trying to be cool today?"
Chris Gaffaney: "Oi, that's enough, that's enough."
Paine: "We're allowed to talk."
Gaffaney: "Nah, nah, come on, play the game. You guys are the captains."
Paine: "We can have a conversation... there's no swearing, no..."
Gaffaney: "Tim you're the captain."
Paine: "Keep your cool, Virat!"
