WATCH: Umpire says 'sorry' to Jason Holder after giving wrong decision in second Test

No game is ever complete without an umpiring mistake, and the second Test between India and West Indies was one of them. While it is human to make mistakes, the introduction of the DRS system had helped reduce errors in recent times.

It is very rare that an umpire will admit their mistake. However, the third day of the second test in Hyderabad witnessed something like that, after English umpire Ian Gould apologized to the West Indies bowler Jason Holder after giving out a wrong decision.

This incident happened during India's second innings when Prithvi Shaw was batting. India was chasing a victory target of 57 runs after the West Indies batting unit failed to build on their bowlers' performance, earlier during the day.

Jason Holder was bowling to the young Prithvi Shaw, after it appeared that his short-pitched delivery had hit the Indian batsman on his left-arm. The West Indian bowler had appealed to the umpire but it went in vain. The West Indian pacer immediately decided to take a review and the replays showed the ball clipping the bails, ball pitching in-line and impacting in-line. However, Prithvi Shaw managed to survive after the umpire's original decision was not out.

Upon looking at the replay, the Englishman looked visibly embarrassed and said 'sorry' to Holder. The West Indian bowler being a great sport smiled back at the umpire's gesture and continued with the game. Here's the video of the incident:

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw has been pivotal to India's comprehensive series win against West Indies. The 18-year-old scored his maiden test century on his debut and followed that up with scores of 70 and 33. He was rightly awarded the Man of the series for his brilliant showing and the 2017 U-19 World Cup winning captain spoke of his delight after an outstanding series.

''It was a happy moment for me and finishing the game for India means a lot for me. It is my first series, winning 2-0 and winning the Man of the Series makes it all the more special," Shaw said.

"Everyone is like a family; there is no senior or junior. It is a great journey and I am looking forward to a lot of it. I don't know what is happening next, I just want to enjoy this moment," he concluded.
