The current Indian team were touted as one of the best touring sides in the world, before they embarked on grueling one month tour of England that concluded recently. Though, the results have been a harsh reality check for the Virat Kohli side as they succumbed to a 1-4 thrashing at the hands of England.

However, despite the loss, the Indian cricket team skipper has been optimistic and still lays his faith in the ability of his team. He made his emotions clear at a recent interview when a reporter asked him whether he believes that it is really the best Indian side in the last 15 years.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Kohli addressed the critics and chose to back head coach Ravi Shastri's opinion of the Indian team being the “best Indian side in the last 15 years”. The reported asked Kohli, "Do these tags put pressure on you? Do you actually believe you are?” The Indian skipper kept his emotions under check and answered, "We have to believe we are the best side. Why not?”

After ducking the first bouncer, the second question infuriated the Indian cricket team skipper. “The best team in 15 years?” asked the reporter, while an angry Kohli replied back asking, “What do you think?”

The reporter replied saying, "I'm not sure!", which prompted Virat Kohli  to respond in typical fashion by hitting back at the reporter saying,“That’s your opinion. Thank you.”

Here's the entire post-match conference where this particular conversation transpired. You can view it from 5:20 onwards:

Many may argue that India probably did not deserve a 1-4 series hammering but that's how things pan out when a visiting team misses opportunities when they come their way and clinch defeat from the jaws of victory.

But it was a great advertisement for Test cricket with result in all 5 Test matches. India can take some heart from the fact that barring Lord's Test match they were in the series in all the other 4 matches.

In the end, India's position as numero uno as top Test ranking was not affected but its image as the worlds best has taken a severe beating with its famed batting line-up up brutally exposed and open for scrutiny.
