Afghanistan dominate India

India started the match with intent but soon were overwhelmed by a much physically superior built Afghanistan who completely dominated the match taking full control of the game with almost two-third of ball possession. Afghanistan kept attacking from the right flank with Indian midfield & defense unable to tackle them effectively. In the stoppage time of the first half, Afghanistan dealt India a blow as Zelfy Narzary finished a brilliant David Najem pass from the right to find the back of the net.

India stage a comeback in the second half

In the second half, India pressed on as Farukh's pace, Manvir's presence, and Doungel's instinct helped India keep the Afghan defence under pressure. There were a couple of chances for Sunil Chhetri, who was denied twice, as Afghan barely held on. However, their resistance was broken by the FC Goa duo in stoppage time when Len Doungel headed in a Brandon Fernandes perfect corner to the far post to find the equaliser for India.
