Who is India’s most popular cricket fan? The answer would be a person most might not know by his name, but one they definitely have seen at matches. The fan, Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary, is synonymous with Team India, so how can he be away from the squad's biggest assignment, the World Cup? Sudhir is all geared up for India’s opening match, against South Africa, and had a poetic way to express his confidence that Virat’s men were all set to replicate ‘Kapil’s Devils’ feat of winning the World Cup in England in 1983.
Ahead of the bowler’s first run-up to the crease, Sudhir, who's present at the venue, said, “We’ve seen how India put up a massive total in the second warm-up match, that's what we need today."
He then used a rhyming line, “1983 ki jeet, Team India karegi repeat. (Team India will repeat 1983 victory)"
In the video (above ) that has surfaced, Sudhir can be seen blowing the ‘shanka’ and waving the Indian flag.
What’s interesting is that Sudhir, who has painted his body with the tricolour, doesn’t sport the name of any current member of the Indian cricket team on his body. The fan, like he did for many years, still has cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s name on his body, along with the words ‘Miss u’.
Sachin had famously posed with Sudhir after India won the World cup at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in 2011, and the latter has proven his loyalty to the Master Blaster by still sporting his name on his body.
India kick off their campaign against South Africa, who come into the fixture after two defeats, at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. The match starts at 3pm IST.
