Shikhar Dhawan proved why he is India's most reliable batsman in ICC tournaments when he scored a brilliant century against the reigning World Champions Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 clash at the Kennington Oval on Sunday.
Dhawan scored a 109-ball 117 at a strike rate of 107.34 which included 16 boundaries. This was his 17th One Day International ton and his third in World Cups. Gabbar's knock proved to be a match-winning one as the Men In Blue overcame the Aussies by 36 runs to register their second straight win in the quadrennial event. Eventually, Dhawan was also adjudged Man of the Match for his stellar knock.
After a successful day at the Oval, the southpaw got the privilege of featuring on Chahal TV where he did not shy away from performing his signature style celebrations. At the same time, he also had some fun with the host Yuzvendra Chahal where he said that it felt good to make his debut on Chahal TV and then hugging Yuzi before he discussed his opening partnership with Rohit Sharma which was followed by a crucial partnership with skipper Virat Kohli.
The video of Gabbar and Chahal having fun was posted by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on their official Twitter handle. Watch the video right here.
After scoring a match-winning ton at the Oval which was his third in World Cups, Dhawan now is only behind the legendary opening pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who have 6 and 4 tons respectively. The southpaw also bought up his sixth century in ICC events, including World Cup and Champions Trophy. Here again, he is behind the two former cricketers, who both have 7 100s each.
