Mohammed Shami continued from where he had left off against Afghanistan. The pacer who had taken a match-winning hat-trick against the Afghans applied brakes on West Indies' momentum by sending back destructive batsmen Chris Gayle and Shai Hope to the pavilion. He was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/16.
It was a day where everything was clicking well for Shami. He also decided to return the favour to West Indian fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell who had carried on signature style celebrations while India were batting.
Any wicket for the speedster is incomplete without his signature celebration, where he first marches, then salutes, taking on from his earlier stint as a soldier for the Jamaica Defence Force. He did it for Hardik Pandya’s wicket and also Shami who he had dismissed for a second-ball duck.
When Cottrell came out to bat, he smashed a massive 95-metre six off Yuzvendra Chahal. The leg spinner, however, had the last laugh, as he trapped the West Indian plumb in front with a googly, two balls later.
Shami it seems remembered how he was sent off earlier in the day and similarly imitated the ‘salute’ celebration. While Vijay Shankar is seen laughing with him, it was captain Virat Kohli who was just too impressed with the celebration.
However, things did not end there as the Caribbean speedster came forward and tweeted on the incident in Hindi. He wrote 'Great fun! Great bowling. Nakal Karna Hi Sabse Badi Chaploosi Hai '
