Afghanistan have had a forgettable ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Featuring in their second World Cup, the Afghans are languishing at the bottom of the points table after having lost all the six games that they have played. They were outplayed by all the sides that they have faced so far including the hosts England who handed them a huge 150-run defeat. A spirited Afghanistan then brought their A-game against India as some superb bowling performances restricted the Men In Blue to 224/8. However, they failed to capitalize on the opportunity as the two-time World Champions won the edge of the seat thriller by 11 runs riding on Mohammed Shami's hat-trick.

The Gulbadin Naib-led side will now face a resurgent Bangladesh at Southampton on Monday. Mashrafe Mortaza's men are currently at the sixth position in the points table with two wins and three losses in the six matches that they have played with five points. Their contest against Sri Lanka was washed away due to rain.

Speaking to the media ahead of their clash against the 2015 World Cup quarterfinalists, Gulbadin Naib took a dig at the Bangladesh team by saying "Hum to doobay hain sanam, tujhe bhi lekay doobaingay".

Afghanistan's run in the showpiece event has come to an end and now they will be looking to salvage pride in their upcoming matches. The Afghan skipper has indirectly made a statement to their opponents that they will make them earn their victory and at the same time, will also play a spoilsport in the opposition's campaign.
