World Cup 2019: "Don't call them Bengalis", warns Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed at journalist's reference to Bangladesh cricket team

Pakistan Cricket Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed addressed the media in Karachi after the team failed to register itself in the semis of Cricket World Cup 2019. Ahmed whose remarks have been the subject of joke for a while now, specially after he said that his team will try to score 500 runs to continue to be a part of World Cup Semis has yet again spoken his mind. 

While addressing the press conference, he was asked by a journalist - if he thinks Shoaib Malik who retired after Pakistan was out of the World Cup deserved a farewell match against the Bengalis? Responding to the question he said: "Don't call them Bengalis, call them Bangladesh, or you also risk being banned." He then added that the team also wanted him to give a farewell match but it was unfortunate that he could not be a part of the last match against Bangladesh. However, the first part of his answer caught the attention as it seemed to be sarcastic and upfront. 

"Shoaib is our senior-most player and though he did not have a good World Cup, he has served the country a lot. His presence in the team was very good for all of us," the skipper said.

Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik announced his retirement from 50-over cricket, following Pakistan's 94-run victory over Bangladesh at Lord's in London. It was the last match for both India's neighbouring teams at the World Cup 2019and as neither progressed to the semi-finals. Informing about his retirement, Malik tweeted the following:

In the same press conference, the Pakistan captain also said that the perception that India deliberately lost to England, hurting Pakistan's semifinal chances, is incorrect and it is not right to level such allegations on the Virat Kohli-led side. "No, no, it is not right to say this. I don't think India lost because of us. England played well to win," Sarfaraz told reporters.
