India beat Australia by 36 runs in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 match at Kennington Oval on Sunday. By the virue of this win, the Men In Blue registered their second straight win in the ongoing showpiece event. They had got the better of South Africa in their previous encounter by six wickets.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli had no hesitation in batting first after winning the toss as the opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma put on 127 runs for the opening wicket. Dhawan went on to score his 17th ODI ton and his third century in World Cups. He scored a 109-ball 117. Valuable contributions from Rohit (57), skipper Virat Kohli (82) and some amazing cameos from MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya powered India to 352/7 in their 50 overs.

In reply, Aussies put up a good contest during this stiff run chase as most of their batsmen got starts and were involved in some decent partnerships. Nonetheless, the Indian bowlers kept them at bay as the Aussies suffered their first defeat of this World Cup. Steve Smith top-scored for the Aussies with 69 while wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey remained unbeaten on 55 as the five-time World Champions were bowled out for 316.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for India with figures of 3/50 in his 10 overs at an economy rate of 5.00. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan was adjudged Man of the Match for his match-winning century.
