Ahead of Pakistan's World Cup clash against England on Monday, former greats of both sides, Shoaib Akhtar and Kevin Pietersen, were seen having some fun at the expense of each other on social media.

It was not an ideal start for Pakistan as they lost their campaign opener against West Indies in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at Trent Bridge on Friday.

After being asked to bat first by West Indian skipper Jason Holder, the 'Men In Green' were bundled out for a paltry score of 105 runs even before playing half their innings i.e. in the 22nd over. Only Fakhar Zaman (22) and Babar Azam (22) could show some resistance with the bat for the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side.

At the same time, this was also Pakistan's second-lowest total in World Cup history. Their lowest total was against England in the 1992 edition where they were bundled out for 73.

In reply, West Indies chased down the score comprehensively with seven wickets in hand in the 14th over, riding on Chris Gayle's blistering half-century.

The former fast bowler had expressed his disappointment on Twitter after a lackluster performance from Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side.

Nonetheless, the 'Rawalpindi Express' came forward with a motivational message for Pakistan. He wrote 'Blood, sweat, aggression, racing heartbeat, badmaashi. This is what's required when you represent your country. This star on your chest is your pride guys. Tagra khelo. Go get them. Larr jao.' Shoaib shared a throwback picture of celebrating after taking the big wicket of Kevin Pietersen during England's tour of Pakistan in 2005.

However, the other person involved in this picture, Kevin Pietersen came forward and took a dig at the ex-quickie by writing 'Can’t argue with that tweet buddy as you’re celebrating after I smacked you all over for a 100...! Great passion!'

Akhtar did not back down and returned the favour back. He wrote 'Mate you were a true force to reckon with but loved my chicken dance after getting u out ..'

A netizen posted the video of Shoaib's chicken dance. Watch the video right here.

The Rawalpindi Express then had the last laugh with this tweet.

Nevertheless, Pietersen ended this banter on a pleasant note.
