India will be aiming to strengthen their semifinal spot against West Indies when the two teams lock horns against each other at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday. Team India are having a splendid run in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The Men In Blue are the only undefeated side in the tournament. The Virat Kohli-led side have won four of their five matches. One of their contests against the Kiwis was washed away due to rain. Meanwhile, the Caribbeans are at the eighth position with just a solitary win in their six matches.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first. The West Indian bowlers made the opening batsmen Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul work hard for their runs. Rohit cut loose in no time. It appeared that he will play an impactful knock. Unfortunately, the Hitman could not last for a long time.
His dismissal happened in the sixth over which was bowled by Kemar Roach. On the final delivery of that over, Roach bowled a beautiful ball which left Sharma completely clueless. The ball which was pitched on off, came in sharply. Rohit looked to defend it but was beaten by the inward movement. The ball went between his bat and pad as Shai Hope dived to his left and took a brilliant catch behind the stumps. The West Indian players appeal instantly, which was turned down by the on-field umpire. West Indies decided to review it. It looked like the ball was hitting the pad. However, the UltraEdge showed that there was a spike. Further replays suggested that the ball appeared to hit the bat and pad at the same time.
As a result of this, the umpire had to reverse his decision and a dejected Sharma had no choice but walk back to the pavilion. The video of Rohit Sharma's debatable dismissal was posted by Cricket World Cup.
The netizens were very annoyed by the decision as they came forward to express their disappointment. Read some tweets here.
