India battles against New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at the Old Trafford in Manchester. The Men In Blue will be eyeing their fourth World Cup final appearance while the Black Caps will be hoping for a second consecutive summit clash appearance. While the fans were excited by some action-packed entertainment on the field, their happiness turned into the backend of the first innings. No surprises in guessing this one. The weather gods intervened just when the New Zealand innings was about to end. As the players left the field, the 2015 World Cup finalists were 211/5 after the end of 46.1 overs.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bat first. Nonetheless, the Kiwis got off to a slow start and also suffered an early setback as Martin Guptill was dismissed just when the pressure of the initial spell got the better of him. Williamson and Henry Nicholls then added 69 runs for the second wicket stand. The Black Caps skipper scored a 95-ball 67 before he was dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal. Post Williamson's dismissal, veteran batsman Ross Taylor anchored the innings.

The Indian bowlers applied the pressure on the batsmen and made sure that the run-scoring was not easy. Taylor remained unbeaten on an 89-ball 67 while Tom Latham was unbeaten at 3.
