Shakib has been in prime form, consistently putting up match-winning performances in the ongoing World Cup, and has gone on to become the leading run scorer in the tournament. 

The all-rounder's latest show with the ball made him the player with the most number of wickets in the World Cups for Bangladesh. Shakib picked up five wickets for 29 runs in 10 overs at an economy of 2.90, making it the best bowling figures for a Bangladesh player in the World Cups, taking his tally to 10 wickets in the tournament. He might have not top-scored for the team with the bat against Afghanistan, but he did put up a magnificent half-century, that guided him to become the player with most runs for Bangladesh in the World Cups alongside becoming the leading run-scorer in the ongoing tournament. Shakib has scored 476 runs in 6 matches with an incredible number of 48 boundaries to his name. 

Shakib's all-around performance saw him being compared to India's Yuvraj Singh, and became the first ever player to score 1000 runs and pick over 30 wickets in the World Cups.
