India might be the last team to get into the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 action, but they are certainly not the least. One of the favourites to lay hands on the trophy, a massive 130 crore citizens expect Virat Kohli and his boys to bring the cup home. One among them is Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, who conveyed his best wishes and congratulated Team India, and is hopeful and confident that the team will emerge winners at Lord’s on July 14.
Ahead of India’s first encounter against South Africa on Wednesday, Rijiju, who is the Minister of State (Independent charge) Youth Affairs & Sports and Minister of State for Minority Affairs, told reporters, “First of all, I have full faith in our players and I’m proud of them. They have done intense preparation. The finest players of our country are participating, so I want to congratulate the whole team, and hope that what we have won before, they bring it back, that’s my belief and my wishes as well.”
Recently, when Rijiju had taken charge of his new department, several sportspersons and cricketer Suresh Raina had also wished him for his new responsibility.
Even former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes spoke with the Minister on the benefits of sports.
India play South Africa at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton at 3pm IST.
