The World Cup fever is on as the 12th edition of the quadrennial event kicks off in less than 24 hours. Team India are also one of the strong contenders to win their third World Cup trophy in the United Kingdom. Before the World Cup kicks off and exactly a week prior to India's opening encounter in the showpiece event, a special World Cup cake was baked which included two of Team India as well as world cricket's biggest superstars MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
A bakery shop in Ludhiana has come up with a unique way to cheer the team. The owner, as well as the customers, were seen posing in front of the cake and taking selfies and posing for a photographs. At the same time, they were also heard cheering for their team as well their favourite players when they chanted 'Chak de India', 'Go Virat India', 'Go Dhoni India'.
Harjinder Singh Kukreja, who owns the bakery, then came forward to talk about the unique design of this cake.
"This is a Belgium chocolate cake based on the World Cup theme which we have prepared for our guests. We have already got 5-6 orders and we are in the full mood of celebration."
Kukreja then added that they are confident that just like 1983, even this time the 'Men In Blue' will get the cup home.
"This is not a cake but our prayers that India once again bring the World Cup back home as the Indian team is very strong this time. So this is our way of saying 'Chak de India'."
Kukreja then revealed how long it had taken him to prepare the cake.
"It took us three days to prepare it and it has been prepared from pure Belgian chocolate which we have imported from Belgium. It consists of a team of six to seven chefs who worked day in and day out as it involved a lot of artisan skills to make it. We have to take care of it as well as we just cannot afford to leave it like that after baking it. The cake needs to be stored in minus temperatures so that it has longevity and does not melt. Only then people will also enjoy looking at it. "
"In this, we have made two favourite characters of mine, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, who are the favourite players of most people in India. What we have done is we have the bat, wickets, the ball to highlight the theme of India. We have also made the BCCI's logo and the best thing is the shape of the World Cup. We have made the World Cup to highlight that the trophy is ours, it will come back to us and we have already started celebrating from now."
