Reigning World Champions Australia got the better of England by 64 runs in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 clash at Lord's on Tuesday. By the virtue of this win, Australia became the first team to qualify for the semifinals. The Aussies have now won six of their seven matches and have 12 points in their tally. Their only loss had come against India. Meanwhile, England are at the fourth position with four wins in seven games and three losses. They have eight points in their tally. The hosts will now need to win their last two encounters against India and New Zealand respectively.
Coming to the match between the two arch-rivals, there were a few standout moments from this contest. However, none could come close to the beautiful yorker which was bowled by Mitchell Starc to get rid off a well-set Ben Stokes.
It happened on the final ball of the 37th over. Stokes was keeping England's hopes alive after they had suffered a batting collapse with his stellar innings. Starc bowled a 145kmph inswinging delivery. Stokes tried his level best to put his bat on the ball but it was too late as he was castled and the bat fell off his hands. The English all-rounder then kicked his bat in disappointment as he walked back to the pavilion after falling 11 runs short of his ton. On the other hand, the Australian left-arm pacer who was adjudged 'Player of the Tournament' in the 2015 World Cup is now the leading wicket-taker of the ongoing edition with 19 wickets. He finished his outstanding bowling spell with figures of 4/43 from his 8.4 overs at an economy rate of 4.96 including a maiden.
The video of Mitchell's Starc's fiery yorker was posted by ICC on their official Twitter handle. Watch the video here.
The netizens came forward to hail Starc's beautiful peace of delivery. They also hailed it as the 'Ball of the Tournament'.
