There was rain, India vs Pakistan and some closely fought contests, that diverted the attention from umpiring blunders that had made headlines in the West Indies vs Australia World Cup match. The refereeing came back to the spotlight with Rohit Sharma’s dismissal against West Indies on Thursday. The opener’s wicket became a talking point on social media, as netizens debated whether he had edged the ball or not. While the 32-year-old was visibly unhappy, even his wife Ritika Sajdeh’s disappointment went viral.

There was a debate if Rohit had nicked the Kemar Roach delivery in the sixth over. The batsman, who was batting on 18, was initially given not out by on-field umpire Richard Illingworth. The West Indies team reviewed the decision and to the Indian batsman’s misfortune, the Ultra Edge detected an edge. However, there were some angles in which it seemed the bat was far off from the ball. Nevertheless, TV umpire Michael Gough stuck to the Ultra Edge decision and asked Illingworth to overrule his decision.

Ritika, however, was not pleased at all and was caught on camera, saying ‘what’, while holding daughter Samaira’s hand, as the on-field decision was made. Watch the video here:
