  • Captain Virat Kohli, there’s nothing different about the match, as he said that he and his team were not focusing on the opposition and not singling out any player, but just focusing on doing the basics right to win.
  • Kohli said that the team literally discussed nothing different and that has been the approach since they came to England
  • The captain also said that they couldn't expect the fans to have the same approach as theirs and it's natural for them to be more emotional.

India vs Pakistan is never just a cricket game and the emotions, for obvious reasons, are often higher than usual matches. But for captain Virat Kohli, there’s nothing different about the match, as he said that he and his team were not focusing on the opposition and not singling out any player, but just focusing on doing the basics right to win.

In a press conference on Saturday ahead of the marquee World Cup clash in Manchester on Sunday, Kohli said, “We are not focusing on the opposition, so for us, no one is a threat. For us, for no one player matters more than the other. It’s about going into the park, as the Indian cricket team and taking on whichever team there is in front of us. If we play well, we can beat any side in the world. If we don’t play well, teams are going to come out and beat you. That’s how simple the game of cricket is and it should be. In our minds, nothing changes according to the opposition.”

However, fans, who are more excited than usual, can't think of the game in the same way as Virat and the captain agrees too, "I can’t tell the fans to think of the game in a particular manner. For us, it’s a professional approach to the game, which is most important. We can’t get overexcited or emotional with any occasion that we play in. The mindset of the player is always going to be different than the fans. You can’t mix the two.”

"In a World Cup, we will have full stadiums in every game, it’s not going to be a drastically different atmosphere from other games. We expect full stadiums in all the games that we play."

The Captain asserted once again, "We have literally discussed nothing different. The atmosphere in the dressing room hasn’t changed since the time we’ve come to England and it’s not going to change. We’re only focusing on playing the cricket we are known for. Not singling out from the opposition., or focusing on one player more than the other. "  (Watch the video above)
