According to official information available from Old Trafford, Manchester where the high-octane encounter is taking place, the swing bowler has strained his left hamstring. The tightness in the hamstring won’t allow him to bowl again in this match.

The team management’s decision to rest him for this match could be so that he is fit for the next few games.

Kumar had landed awkwardly while bowling the fifth delivery of the fourth over to Imam-ul-Haq. The bowler came off the field and Vijay Shankar had a ‘beginner’s luck’ kind of moment as he trapped the Pakistan opener leg before wicket on his first ball in his debut World Cup match.
