The same advice from Sachin Tendulkar that helped Yuvraj Singh bag the Man of the Tournament in World Cup 2011, it seems is doing the difference for Rohit Sharma as he follows the southpaw’s footsteps to bag the coveted prize. As the ‘Hitman’ notched up his fourth century of the ongoing World Cup against Bangladesh, his former teammate exulted how his prediction of the opening batsman becoming the Man of the Tournament was turning out to be on course.

Rohit had taken a dream start to the World Cup, playing a match-winning 122 against South Africa and a brilliant 57 against Australia.  After the completion of these two matches and the one against New Zealand that got washed out, Yuvraj had tweeted on June 16 how they discussed during the IPL about his failure to convert good starts into big scores. The Punjab batsman had cited Sachin Tendulkar’s prophetic ‘It’s happening for a reason’ words that later helped him become the Man of the Tournament in India’s victorious World Cup 2011 campaign. The former all-rounder then predicted that Rohit will become the ‘mos’, 'Man of the series.’

Since that tweet, Rohit’s scored three more hundreds, 140 against Pakistan, 102 against England and the most recent, 104 against Bangladesh. Yuvraj was happy how his prediction was coming true and again exulted, “”And @ImRo45 walks closer to the Icc mos trophy #hitman you beauty no 4 well played champion !!!”

The 38-year-old even retweeted Mumbai Indians reply to his June 16 tweet, by calling Yuvraj a ‘Legend.’

A few days before his tweet, Rohit Sharma had ailed Yuvraj Singh's roller-coaster career and said the stylish southpaw deserved a better send-off after 17 years of top-flight cricket.

Meanwhile, Rohit's knock helped India score a challenging 314/9 against Bangladesh.

With his class knock of 104 in 92 deliveries, the Mumbaikar became the first Indian batsman to register four centuries in the same World Cup. He is also only one behind legendary Sachin Tendulkar, with five centuries in the overall tournament, while emulating other legends like Kumar Sangakkara and Ricky Ponting. Rohit also went past Sourav Ganguly's tally of 25 tons to become the third-highest Indian century-maker, behind Sachin and Virat Kohli. Moreover, the 32-year-old also became the top-scorer of the current tournament with 544 runs, 28 ahead of  David Warner.
