Ravindra Jadeja appears to have got the better of Sanjay Manjrekar during India's final ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 league match against Sri Lanka at Leeds on Saturday. Jadeja who was playing his first match of the World Cup was introduced to bowl in the 11th over. Coincidentally, Manjrekar was also doing commentary at that time.
The veteran commentator said that Jadeja's average was higher than that of spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. Surprisingly, in the following delivery, the all-rounder picks up a wicket as he sends back Kusal Mendis who was stumped off MS Dhoni.
While Manjrekar was once again trolled on social media, Jadeja's IPL team Chennai Super Kings also came forward to have some fun. The three-time winners took to Twitter and wrote that MS Dhoni had dislodged the bails to bits and pieces.
Read the tweet here:
Jadeja finished his spell with figures of 1/40 in his 10 overs at an economy rate of 4.00.
Earlier, Jadeja had hit out at the cricketer-turned-commentator on Twitter after being called a bits-and-pieces player as part of his World Cup analysis.
Team India will be eyeing to somehow get to the top spot by beating the 1996 winners while the Lankans will be looking to salvage pride as they are already out of contention for the semis. India can finish on the first position provided Australia lose to South Africa later in the day. The Men In Blue are currently at the second position with six wins in eight matches and 13 points in their tally. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka are at the sixth position with three wins and three losses in their eight matches and eight points.
