The 2011 World Cup-winning skipper had injured his thumb twice in that match. One during the first innings while he was keeping wickets and then while batting.  When the fans had come to know about what Mahi was going through, they came forward and hailed MSD's spirit  and dedication towards the game on social media.

Team India earned their semi-final spot after a 28-run win over Bangladesh at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Tuesday. India thereby became the second team after the defending World Champions Australia to cement their last-four berth.

While the Indian cricket fans were happy with their team's clinical performance against Bangladesh, they were equally disappointed after the Virat Kohli-led side had suffered their first defeat of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against the hosts England. The fans were upset with veteran wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni, who along with Kedar Jadhav, failed to take India over the line due to their slow innings. Dhoni's 31-ball unbeaten 42 helped India finish at 306/5 in their 50 overs while Jadhav remained unbeaten on a 13-ball 12. The two middle-order batsmen added 39 runs for the sixth wicket stand in the last five overs of their run chase. Dhoni did play some big shots in the end, but it was too late by then as the match as a contest was all over by then.

Just like their failure against Afghanistan, the two middle-order batsmen were once again criticised on social media for their slow batting.

However, one thing went unnoticed during his innings. The 2011 World Cup-winning skipper had injured his thumb twice in that match. One during the first innings was while he was keeping wickets and then while batting. When the fans had come to know about what Mahi was going through, they came forward and hailed MSD's spirit and dedication towards the game on social media.
