World Cup: Pakistan Fans Blast ICC For Mocking Mohammad Hafeez's Viral Loose Ball

  • Despite Pakistan's 94-run victory against the Tigers, they couldn't qualify for the semi-finals as they could not convert their negativenet run-rate to positive figures

Pakistan's Mohammad Hafeez became the latest victim of mockery as he sent a ball flying way above the batsman's head as he was bowling, in the third over of the second innings during the Pakistan- Bangladesh clash on 5 July. After Pakistan's failure to post a huge total that was needed for them in order to qualify for the semi-finals, successfully defended a total of 315 and grabbed a consolatory win of 94-runs over the Tigers.

Hafeez was bowling to Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar in the third over of the match when the ball slipped from his hands and ended up flying high above the batsman's head. ICC posted an edited video of the incident with some animations and with a caption that read "when the coach asks you to include some flight in your delivery". The video showed the ball flying above the batsman's head to out of the stadium, passing above an airplane before it finally reached outside the planet.

Pakistan fans, who were already reeling under the pressure of not being able to qualify for the semi-finals, reacted sharply against the video, accusing the ICC of practicing hate. Some fans took to Twitter to slam ICC for the video. Read some of the reactions here:
