World Cup | Pakistan minister celebrates India's exit, netizens give him a befitting response

Following India's loss to New Zealand in the semi-finals of the World Cup at Old Trafford, Manchester on July 10, Indian fans extended their support for the team on social media in spite of the defeat, expressing solidarity for the Men in Blue.

Following India's loss to New Zealand in the semi-finals of the World Cup at Old Trafford, Manchester on July 10, Indian fans extended their support for the team on social media in spite of the defeat, expressing solidarity for the Men in Blue. 

Meanwhile, some fans of arch-rivals Pakistan were delighted to see India exit the World Cup race, taking to Twitter to poke fun at the situation despite Pakistan having crashed out without even being able to make it to the group stage. 

Amidst all this, Pakistani politicians too took to Twitter to express their joy. Fawad Hussain Chaudhry, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology, in Imran Khan's government took to Twitter to post that New Zealand were the new favorites for Pakistan along with a heart emoji.

Indian fans reacted sharply to the politician's post, with some asking him to check on the Pakistan team before pointing hands at the Men in Blue while the rest told Chaudhry to get the spelling of New Zealand right. Read some of the reactions here:

Pakistan exited the World Cup after failing to beat Bangladesh by a huge margin, failing the country's hopes of re-enacting the 1992 World Cup run.
