The very ‘hopeful’ Pakistan side was knocked out of the ongoing World Cup despite winning their final group stage match against Bangladesh on Friday at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Pakistan equaled New Zealand with 11 points in nine matches, but couldn’t maintain a net run rate that was better than the Kiwis and hence, New Zealand secured a semi-final berth.

Pakistan had to achieve an unprecedented win to keep their campaign on track and play the semis. Here are some sample scenarios that describe what Pakistan needed to accomplish:

Make 350 and bowl Bangladesh out for 38

Or make 400 and  bowl Bangladesh out for 84

If Bangladesh batted first, Pakistan would have been knocked out of the tournament at the toss.

Netizens were prompt and mathematically creative in crafting a morphed scorecard that would glide the Men in Green to the semis. The unrealistic scorecard posed that, batting first, Sarfaraz Ahmed and men will score 640/2 and then slump Bangladesh for just 105 runs to win the match by 535 runs. Babar Azam would score a record-shattering 310.

Well, the morphed scorecard was miles away from how the actual match turned out to be, but Netizens shared a laugh and made it a hilarious meme.

Here’s how:

Some believed that the scorecard was 'dreamy.'

Some fans got nostalgic.

Mocking Pakistan's belief?

Some were sure that Pakistan would stun the cricketing world. Or were they?

This is fake news (waves hands in the air like Mr. Trump.)

Pakistan won the match by 94 runs, but to their misfortune, it was only a consolation win. Imam-ul-Haq scored a 100 and Babar added 96 off 98 balls. Shaheen Afridi took 6 wickets and was awarded the Man of the Match. To add to their emotional exit, Shoaib Malik announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He was given a guard of honour and he led the team off the ground.
