Ravindra Jadeja played the role of a savior for India after the top-order batting collapsed in the hands of the brutal pace of the Kiwis and the tormenting conditions of the pitch at Old Trafford, Manchester at the semi-finals of the World Cup.

The Chennai Super Kings duo played a vital knock for India, helping the Men in Blue rebuild their innings after the early loss of the skipper, vice-skipper and the opener. KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma were dismissed for a run each before the innings could even cross five overs.

Chasing a target of 240, India saw a spectacular half-century from the 'bits and pieces' left-hander, silencing his critics in addition to redefining his role as an all-rounder in the team. He celebrated his half-century in the typical and traditional Rajput style, the one Jadeja is famously known for. The left-handed all-rounder has smashed three sixes and three fours en route to his fifty.

The important half-century from Jadeja makes him hold the record of the first 50+ score by a number eight batsman in a World Cup knockout match.
