Wriddhiman Saha has arguably been the most consistent as well as a favorite choice of selectors as a wicket-keeping option in Test cricket for many years. When the Indian Test squad for the ongoing series against South Africa was announced, the selectors preferred Wriddhiman Saha over Pant. Saha could not impress in the first Test at Vizag but in the following Test at Pune, he took some spectacular catches and won the hearts of the fans as India handed an innings defeat to South Africa. Ahead of the third and final Test match, Saha has come forward to talk about the aspects of wicket-keeping.

Saha on keeping

While addressing the media ahead of the third Test match at Ranchi, Wriddhiman Saha said that wicket-keeping is a thankless job.

"Keeping is a tough job and it is a thankless job as we are wearing gloves so everybody thinks that we will catch every ball easily. It is not an easy job on turning track or on the pitch where there is uneven bounce," Saha told reporters in the pre-match conference on Friday.

"We prepare according to the wicket. I know the way how Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin bowl so I adjust myself according to the situation," he added. "Everyone tries to contribute to the team. As a player, I try to contribute with my keeping and then with batting," said Saha.

India eyeing a clean sweep

After having won both the matches comprehensively, India will be eyeing a clean sweep against a struggling South Africa. The visitors' woes increased when Keshav Maharaj and Aiden Markram were ruled out of the contest due to injuries. The Virat Kohli-led side are sitting comfortably at the summit of the ICC World Test Championship rankings with 200 points in their tally. No other team is even closer to the top-ranked Test side. Apart from a clean sweep, India will also be eyeing to add another 40 valuable points. The Proteas, on the other hand, would be looking to salvage pride and if they manage to win the dead rubber, then they would open their account in the World Test Championship rankings.
