United announced on Friday that they had secured a deal with Juventus for Cristiano Ronaldo to return to the club.

It capped a remarkable turn of events after reports just hours earlier had suggested the 36-year-old was poised to sign for rivals Man City.

Reports suggest that United will pay 15million euros (£12.85million) plus eight million euros (£6.85m) in potential add-ons to Juventus.

United had not been looking to sign Ronaldo but seized the opportunity when it became clear he wanted to leave the Italian side.

At this point City appeared the front-runners, but news conferences held by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer early afternoon changed the picture.

Not long after, it was a done deal and Ronaldo along with United players took to social media.

Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 appearances for United between 2003 and 2009 winning three Premier Leagues, the FA Cup, two League Cups, two Community Shields, and also the Club World Cup.
