Activist chains herself to entrance of Munich stadium

An environmental activist on Friday chained herself to a crowd control barrier at a football stadium in Munich where Belgium faced Italy in the quarter final of the European Championships.

Claiming to be part of the Extinction Rebellion group, the protester demanded UEFA change their sponsorship policies and stop working with companies involved in pollution or climate change.

German police officers surrounded the woman, who gave her name as Susanne, and were preparing to cut her free when she unchained herself.

She criticised a number of UEFA sponsors including Gazprom, Volkswagen and Qatar Airways.
