Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer from Real Madrid to Juventus caused shockwave around the world. While his previous club's fans were distraught by his departure, the fans of his newly joined team rejoiced and celebrated.
The Portugese enjoyed nine successful years in Spain, where he won everything with the club. He was one of the favorites amongst his teammtes, who constantly termed him as the 'best player in the world'.
One of his best friends in Real was Marcelo. The duo shared great chemistry, both on and off the field. And now, following Ronaldo's departure, Marcelo has posted an emotional farewell for his partner in crime.
He shared the message on Instagram, which read, "Who would’ve thought, right Cris? It’s now time to say good-bye...I swear to you that I never imagined this day would come, but nothing in life lasts forever and I hope you get to be very happy in your new adventure.
"We spent almost 10 years together, 10 years of happiness, good football, victories, defeats and wonderful times. I learned a lot from you, your dedication is the most strange thing I ever saw in an athlete.
"I wish all the best for you and your family! I will miss our pre-game talks when you guessed the score correctly and calmed us ahead of the Finals with your experience and support!
"I’m proud of having played with you but not because you are the best player but because of the kind of person you are. When I retire I will sit in a bar to drink a beer and I will tell our stories and show our pictures.
"Yours sincerely, #M12."
Marcelo isn't the only Real Madrid player who paid tribute to CR7 following his move. Another of Ronaldo's close friend, Sergio Ramos, had some beautiful things to say for the Portugese.
His Twitter post read, ".@Cristiano, your goals, your numbers and everything we've won together speak for themselves. You have earned a special place in the history of @RealMadrid. As Madridistas we'll remember you always. It's been a pleasure to play alongside you, bicho. Big hig and good luck!"
