Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that David de Gea's injury is 'not as bad as feared'. David de Gea sustained an injury during his international duty for Spain on October 16. "Don't expect him to play but it wasn't as bad as feared. When I saw the game I thought that's him out until next international break, but it's not as bad as feared," Goal.com quoted Solskjaer. As Solskjaer said fans should not expect De Gea to play, it means that the Spaniard will not feature in club's match against Liverpool in the Premier League. Manchester United will compete against Liverpool on October 20.

de Gea's injury, not a long-term one

According to initial reports from Spain's medical staff, it looks like the injury should not keep the 28-year-old out long-term but with just three days before the clash with Liverpool, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may still be forced to pick No. 2 Sergio Romero. De Gea has not missed a Premier League game since May 2018. Romero has started twice this season against Astana in the Europa League and Rochdale in the Carabao Cup.

Injury problems for Manchester United

David de Gea was substituted with an apparent groin injury in Spain's 1-1 draw with Sweden in a UEFA Euro qualifier match that was played at the Friends Arena on October 16. His is not the only injury concern for Solskjaer going forward. Forward Anthony Martial has been sidelined for eight weeks with a thigh injury, while midfielder Jesse Lingard and left-back Luke Shaw are doubts with hamstring problems. Paul Pogba faces a late fitness test for an ankle problem.

Gary Neville: The club's board is responsible

Meanwhile, former United Skipper, Gary Neville, targeted United's board, stating that their decisions have not been in the best interest of this club. In addition to this, he stated that United at this point does not have a winning mentality. "They have started to let go of the ball a lot and they've lost the aggressiveness that United was known for. The quality of the players is not up to the mark and this team has not gone forward since Sir Alex Ferguson retired but have taken a few steps back." Manchester United are at a lowly 12th position in the Premier League and have won only 2 matches alongside 4 draws and 2 losses in the 8 league matches they have played so far.
