UEFA members condemned on Tuesday the Super League project, a football breakaway started by 12 European football clubs.

The Super League intends to launch a 20-team competition with 15 founding European members but only 12 have currently signed up.

Currently, teams have to qualify each year for the Champions League through their domestic leagues, but the Super League would lock in 15 places every season for the founding members.

UEFA warned the Super League clubs that legal action would be taken against them and said they also would be barred from existing domestic competitions such as the Spanish league and the Premier League.

Speaking at the UEFA annual meeting in Montreux, European member of FIFA Council Evelina Christillin, a long time associate of Juventus' chairman Andrea Agnelli, said she ''strongly disagrees'' with the decision of the Italian club.
