Pep Guardiola insisted on Thursday that he had no problem with the UEFA Champions League final being moved from Istanbul to Porto.

Despite this, the Manchester City boss said he had been looking forward to visiting Instanbul for the first time in his capacity as a manager, and had been pleased for German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, whose parents are Turkish.

UEFA confirmed on Thursday that Portugal would host the showpiece event between Manchester City and Chelsea after the UK government had placed Turkey on to the red list of countries for international travel in response to growing rates of Covid-19 infection.

Six thousand fans from each club will be able to attend the final on 29th May.
