Football is one sport that unites people from different generations and backgrounds. A simple game of scoring a goal and passing the ball has transcended into the bread and butter for many and a dream for its spectators and admirers of the game. One such club that has united people even before the First World War is the Leicester City Football Club. Leicester City is one of the prominent England football clubs.

Leicester Fosse to Leicester City

Leicester City was previously known as Leicester Fosse. The club was established in 1884. Filbert Street ground became the team’s home ground in 1891. Currently, King Power Stadium is their new home ground. Leicester became a part of the Football League in 1894. They earned their place in the First division in 1908 after a couple of average performances in Second division. But to their bad luck, their first season after a change in the division turned out to be disastrous. Leicester Fosse faced their worst all-time defeat till date, after getting thrashed 12-0 by Nottingham Forest.

The relegation due to this poor performance lead to a financial turmoil for the club. The United Kingdom suffered from severe instability after the First World War. This naturally affected the club and the Football League. The Football League was suspended in 1915 and Leicester Fosse had to seek re-election to maintain their status in the Football League.
