Houston Dynamo FC open MLS season with 2-1 win over San Jose Earthquakes

Houston Dynamo FC won the first match of the 2021 MLS season, defeating the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 on Friday (16 April).

Homegrown Memo Rodriguez opened the scoring in the 39th minute and offseason acquisition Maximiliano Urruti doubled the Dynamo advantage in the 55th. Paul Marie broke the clean sheet 16 minutes from time with a glorious bending ball but San Jose was unable to equalize.
