The Indian Super League (ISL) is now three matchdays old, and as such, the ISL table is starting to take shape. Matchday 3 threw up some surprises in the results. Newcomers Hyderabad FC registered their first win in the ISL after successive defeats in their opening fixtures. Fellow newcomers Odisha FC also notched up a win in their third consecutive away game against Mumbai City FC. Here is a review of ISL Matchday 3:

Hyderabad FC register first win

The G.M.C. Balayogi Athletic Stadium witnessed Hyderabad FC register their first win in the ISL in the game against Kerala Blasters. A 5-0 loss to ATK in their opening fixture and a 3-1 loss to Jamshedpur FC meant that Phil Brown was under immense pressure to produce some results for the newcomers. As luck would have it, Hyderabad FC's first-ever win in the ISL came in their first-ever home game in the league. Goals from Marko Stankovic and Marcelo Pereira ensured that Hyderabad FC climbed out of the bottom of the table after ISL Matchday 3.

Odisha FC off the blocks

Narrow 2-1 defeats in their opening ISL fixtures against Jamshedpur FC and NorthEast United FC meant that luck was not on the side of Josep Gombau's men. Facing a steely Mumbai City FC in their third successive away game in the ISL, Odisha FC went on to register an emphatic 4-2 win against the Islanders. Aridane Santana brought some Spanish flavour into the game, courtesy of a brace. Not a bad way to register your first win in the ISL, is it?

ISL Matchday 3 witnesses landmark

A 2-1 loss to Kerala Blasters in their opening game was not a good start to ATK's season. However, that result was followed by an emphatic 5-0 win against Hyderabad FC. Even so, the game with the 5-0 scoreline wasn't going to be the one grabbing the headlines. ATK's narrow 1-0 win against Chennaiyin FC on ISL Matchday 3 meant that ATK's David Williams has now scored the 1000th goal in the ISL. With three goals in three games, it's safe to say that Williams is off to a flyer in the ISL this season.

Goalkeepers' day out

The final game of ISL Matchday 3 saw Jamshedpur FC take on current champions Bengaluru FC. While the game may have ended goalless, that does not mean that there was little to no action in the game. A 0-0 scoreline was largely down to the two goalkeepers on the day. Jamshedpur FC's Subrata Paul and Bengaluru FC's Gurpreet Singh Sandhu were on top of their game, effecting some world-class saves to keep the attackers from both sides at bay. In a Matchweek that witnessed ATK's David Williams score the 1000th goal in the ISL, Bengaluru FC's Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Jamshedpur FC's Subrata Paul ensured that even goalkeepers got the spotlight on ISL Matchday 3.
