Sean Cox: Liverpool fan who sustained life-threatening injuries during a clash against AS Roma
Sean Cox is a lifelong Liverpool fan and he was seen posing for a picture with the Reds' boss after watching the league leaders extend their lead at the top to eight points with a stunning 3-1 win over Pep Guardiola’s side. Cox, 54, was attacked by a few AS Roma fans before a UEFA Champions League game at Anfield in April 2018.

Cox had to undergo treatment for 18 months in the Republic of Ireland after the attack. He was then moved to a specialist neurological facility in Sheffield for a 12-week rehabilitation programme, which specifically focused on developing his speech and movement. Peter Moore, Liverpool's chief executive, took to Twitter to inform the supporters of the club that Cox would be present for the Premier League game against Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp stated to a section of media that Sean's story has touched all of them, and although initially, the emotions were one of sadness that his life has been so affected purely by coming to support the football team he loves, he now has new feelings when he hears his name mentioned.

Sean’s wife Martina informed the media about her husband’s health, saying that he's doing well. He is in a rehabilitation facility in Sheffield. He has been there since September 2018 and is starting to make progress and that they were happy with him. Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold said after the match that it was very special for him to be present for the match and that he was happy that Sean had seen this performance from the team, something that he deserved to see.
