In the wake of the recent rape allegations imposed against the Portuguese superstar, Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has voiced his support for the forward saying it is not easy to replace a player of the calibre of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The talismanic striker left the Spanish capital to join the Italian giants for a whopping transfer fee of 110 million euros. His presence has been severely missed at the Bernebau as Real Madrid have lost three and drawn one of their last four matches and are currently fourth in La Liga.

In reference to the Los Blancos recent form, Paratici told journalists at the Manlio Scopigno ceremony at Rieti in central Italy after receiving a "Manager of the Year" award."Ronaldo is probably the best player in the history of the game so he isn't easy to replace."

Paratici revealed that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was keen to join Juventus even after spending nine trophy-laden seasons with Real Madrid. Though, it was a very difficult decision for the Spanish heavyweights to let their star man go, Real Madrid ensured the process was hassle free.

"We talked about it initially, and straight away we got the feeling he wanted to join us, which was a huge advantage. Real Madrid had a gentleman's agreement with him, the ownership kicked things off and negotiations began,'' he said.

Paratici stressed Juventus's support for the Portuguese star Ronaldo, currently embroiled in damaging rape allegations. "Cristiano is a very simple person and an excellent professional, he has all our support," said Paratici.

Meanwhile, the nominees for the most prestigious individual prize in the world of football are out. In what comes as no surprise, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are leading the men's nominations along with 28 other players for the accolade, which is awarded by France Football every year.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the joint-record holders of the Ballon d'Or, winning the accolade five times. However, the duo who have dominated every individual award for the past 10 years, could see their streak come under a threat by Luka Modric, who is also among the front runners for this years prize.
