Klaus Augenthaler, while speaking to the media, said he had no comments on the ongoing struggles of former German International player Mesut Ozil. Augenthaler was asked about the struggles of Ozil since his omission and subsequent retirement from the German national team. He has not been playing for his club Arsenal. Ozil, Amine Gülşe - his wife - and teammate Sead Kolasinac were recently attacked in London.

Mentoring underprivileged girls

Augenthaler was in Mumbai to hold a masterclass for a group of 18 underprivileged young girls, in a partnership with Häfele India and PIFA. He held an hour-long session, where he taught them techniques of dribbling, passing and heading the ball. PIFA has been supporting underprivileged kids to play football and develop them as a person. He was called for the masterclass by Hafele India during the Indo-German event in Mumbai.

Augenthaeler was also asked about the recent controversy for Germany's number one goalkeeper. Through a translator, he said, "Germany is really lucky to have three outstanding goalkeepers, so that's a lucky situation. But I am not the one deciding, it's the National coach." On being pressed whether it was a healthy situation for the German national team, he said that the competition was normal and each player has to fight for his spot. "The competition is normal, it's been our tradition as well. We always had the challenge of having many good goalkeepers, and for sure I can understand any player who is not playing is unhappy, but that's the challenge." He spoke about the time when he was a part of the team and also said that players should work harder if they are placed on the bench.

Will not take up coaching opportunities

Augenthaeler was also asked about him coaching any Indian Super League team, and he said, "It's a great honour, for sure. When I was in China last year, I did get an offer to be a coach there but at this age, I'm happy to stay in Bavaria. It's nice to travel sometimes, but it feels like home in Bavaria."
