Former Juventus manager, Massimiliano Allegri has indirectly given a deadline to Manchester United to hand him over the reigns should the club sack their current manager Ole Gunnar Solsksjaer, with Allegri refusing to take up the job if no contact is made in the next few weeks.

A difficult time for the Red Devils

The Red Devils had endured the worst start to their premier league campaign. After further denting their chances of a top 4 finish after a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle, United are at a lowly 12th position with just 2 points clear of the relegation zone. The path ahead is even rockier for the former premier league champions as they face league leaders, Liverpool at Old Trafford who has maintained a 100% record this season.

The under-fire Norweigian could find himself walking out of the door if he loses to Liverpool at home on October 20 and against Norwich in an away match to be played on October 27 at Carrow Road. Ole has managed to win only 4 of the 16 premier league matches.

'Time is running out'

Having led Juventus to 5 Serie A titles, the tactician was on a break with no interest in taking up a job as that would deprive him of the time that he needed to establish himself at any club. Although, with Manchester United inching closer towards the relegation zone, the Italian has shown a keen interest to steer the club back to its winning ways and add more trophies to their cabinet.

The former AC Milan manager stated that he would take up the job only if it was offered to him in the next few weeks. But the chances of him getting the high profile managerial job does not appear to be on the cards as Ole has just been appointed as the manager and the board is ready to give him time to remove all the deadwood and build his team from the scratch.

Strong credentials backing Allegri

Massimiliano Allegri's most notable achievement was recorded with a successful spell at Italian club Juventus. Allegri has always been praised for his style of management as it was under him that Juventus became a team that had a composed style of play, were much more focused on keeping possession in matches and that in turn helped them win while conserving a lot of energy.

The manager has also been lauded for taking chances in terms of frequently changing his team's playing style to the 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and the 4-3-1-2 formations in order to establish a much suitable playing style for his players. The freedom to play allowed a lot of players to get creative and that boosted their confidence match after match when they got winning results.

Only if Manchester United decides to end their association with Solsksjaer, a penalty of 7 million pounds will have to be paid to him and the sacking will also witness a lot of the backroom staff leaving along with the Norwegian manager.
