Premier Futsal: When Legends Shared The Court With The Locals

Last year, in the season One of the Premier Futsal, as an exhibition match, the legends of the game shared the court with the bright local talents in a match which was surprisingly closely contested.

The Legends team included the likes of midfield maestro Paul Scholes, Futsal legend Falcao, Brazilian World Cup winning Captain Cafu, Argentine Hernan Crespo. But still the Indian finds of the tournament gave these legends to slog it out in this ceremonial match. 
 


The legends opened the scoring as Cafu finished off a brilliant team play which was started right at the goal. Scholes, Crespo and Falcao linked up well to find Cafu who waiting free next to the goal. The Brazilian just had to finish it off, as he calmly slotted the ball past the Indian goalkeeper. 

Bright local lad, Jonathan who was considered one of the finds of the tournament had a good game overall, making the legends sweat it out, as he proved dangerous on counter attack. It was one of such instance where he actually found the gap scoring one back for the locals. 
 

The legends had all to do, with the time running out they had to go that extra mile to find that winning goal. Eventually the constant pressure paid off, as some spectacular brilliance expected out of Falcao was delivered with the Brazilian taking the ball on his chest before hitting an unstoppable bicycle kick past the goalkeeper for the lead. 

The six hardcore futsal teams which include, Bengaluru Royals, Delhi Dragons, Kerala Cobras, Mumbai Warriors, Telugu Tigers and Chennai Singhams is all set to battle it out in a game of tricks and agility while legends of the game promises to set the 40 by 20 court on fire. 

In the opening match right after the opening ceremony on September 15, Mumbai Warriors face city rivals Delhi Dragons in Mumbai while Bengaluru, Kerala, Telugu Tigers and Chennai will play their opening fixtures the following day. 
 


The Mumbai leg of Premier Futsal will continue on till the 18th of September after which the tournament heads to Bengaluru for the next week. The final and the international leg of the Tournament will start from September 26 in Dubai. The finals is slated to be played in Dubai on October 1.
